1.Education Data Science (MS)

Data hold enormous potential to advance discovery, decision making, and the continuous improvement of learning. The program in education data science integrates the complex and rich disciplines of computer science and statistics with education and social science theory. It prepares students to apply data science skills and techniques to education research and practice.This two-year, full-time residential course of study combines academic coursework with a mentored internship or research assistantship. The program culminates with a capstone project under mentorship of GSE faculty.

2.International Comparative Education (ICE)

The International Comparative Education (ICE) concentration is a multidisciplinary, international, cross-national program that places educational problems into a comparative framework.This 12-month, full-time residential course of study combines an interdisciplinary overview of major issues in international and comparative education, development, and policy with specialized coursework in students’ areas of interest. The program’s two tracks—International Comparative Education (ICE) and International Education Policy Analysis (IEP)—focus on rigorous research, and culminate in a publishable-quality master’s paper. Flexibility and small cohort size are hallmarks of the program.

3.Learning Design and Technology (MS)

The face of education is changing. New technologies have catalyzed an evolution in tools for learning. As schools, governments, and corporations look to emerging technologies to enhance learning environments and improve outcomes, these efforts must be guided by empirically-grounded learning sciences and design. The Learning Design and Technology program builds the creativity, knowledge, and skills necessary to pioneer the future of equitable, effective learning.This 11-month, full-time residential program integrates powerful contemporary ideas about learning with emergent technologies to design and evaluate learning environments, products, and programs. The LDT program features a blend of theory and project-based courses, a real-world internship, and a major design project. It awards a master’s of science (MS) degree.

4.Policy, Organization, and Leadership Studies(MA)

Education is a joint venture. Government, business, schools, and civil society all contribute to the provision of education. The mission of the Policy, Organization, and Leadership Studies (POLS) program is to equip our students with the knowledge, theory, and practical skills they need to bring about the change they want to see in education.This nine-month, full-time residential program combines coursework and field work to prepare students for effective leadership in a wide range of education enterprises. Our cohort model emphasizes teamwork, understanding complex problems, and designing solutions. Students collaborate with faculty, peers, and field site hosts. The program awards a master of arts degree.
