The course follows a modular structure, with students completing 180 credits over a 12-month period. Students will complete:

70 credits of core modules

20 credits of optional modules

a 30 credit development project providing skills in advanced design practice

60 credit summer project which develops skills in research

The course utilises an integrated approach in which lectures, classes, laboratories and information technology form key elements.

Entry requirements:

Undergraduate degree2:1 (or international equivalent) in an engineering-related field. Applicants with a high 2:2 (or international equivalent) and substantial work experience may also be considered. You will require design experience in process engineering.

Work experience:

Applicants who do not meet the entry criteria, but have significant work industry experience may be accepted on to the programme.

IELTS: 6.0 (no less than 5.5 in each element)

When entering into the 21st century, Chinese are facing the alarming rate of environment deterioration and PM 2.5 has been one of the most popular buzzword in current Chinese society. Driven by the magic of environment engineering and its wide application in fields ranging from water resources, chemical industries, recycling facilities and chemical products, I dreamed to be an influential environment engineer since my childhood. Affected by the documentaries about the extremely terrible conditions of Chinese environment in many metropolises, I followed my heart to choose xxx University xxx College in department of environment engineering, which is academically prominent in this field. During the four years, many major courses have led me to the further comprehension of the environment engineering. All of these have done a great help to me to have access to the pragmatic field of the environment engineering.


I am a relatively excellent student in my academic study and lab experience during the undergraduate years. Since the second semester of freshmen, I have awarded the second-class college scholarship for six times as I studies very hard in my expertized major. I achieve the average score of 85.60 during the whole academic years, with the professional courses ranking the top 2 in our college. We have learned a series of fundamental and professional courses. The basic foundation courses include mathematics, Linear algebra, probability of the resources and environment system, basic organic chemistry, chemical microbiology physical, chemical environment, Computer Chemistry Foundation, and so on. I am keen on chemical analysis and would likely to collect valid data for further experimental research. I understand deeply about the critical roles that biology and data analysis play in the research of environment engineering. On the one hand, application of chemistry theory is becoming increasingly broad as the cores of environmental engineering of are water treatment and microbial treatment. Initially this approach is only concerned about making profits, but in order to better promote innovation and improvement, this subject has become increasingly concerned about the mechanism, and the need for biochemical knowledge. On the other hand, I have learned the study algorithm for two years, such as PSO, GA, and the efficiency and accuracy always depends on the data analysis. This discipline also requires comprehensive understanding on a cross-section of disciplines including molecular biology, analysis and control of trace pollutants, toxicology, pops, waste gas treatment, PM2.5, eutrophication of lakes, river basin evaluation, urban ecology ,high-grade hydraulic ecology and pipeline hydraulics. I am making every effort to lay a solid foundation for the coming studies.
