Academic entry qualification
· PERSONAL STATEMENT
The Dance BA integrates composition, training, and improvisation, while challenging students to locate dance politically, culturally, and historically. What experiences or goals do you have that align with this point of view of how art and society intertwine?
You will have 3500 characters (including spaces) / approximately 500 words. We recommend that you write your statement in a separate word processing program, then cut and paste it into the web application.
· AUDITION
All applicants must audition either in person or by video. You will be asked to perform a one-minute piece of your own choreography in a style most comfortable to you. We encourage the presentation of composition studies that reflect study/interest in any dance traditions.
Standardized Tests
All freshman applicants are expected to take the following tests:
· The ACT plus the ACT Writing Test.

The SAT. Note: for tests taken in March, 2016 or later you must complete the essay portion of the SAT. We will not accept your scores if you opt not to write the essay.
Applicants to the Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science are also strongly encouraged to take the following SAT Subject Tests: Math Level 2 and a science test (Biology E/M, Chemistry, or Physics) that is closely related to the applicant's intended major.
·Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
A competitive score is above 100 (with sub-scores above 22).
· International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
A competitive score is 7 or higher.
Optional - Duolingo English Test
Applicants have the option to provide additional information about their English ability by submitting a score on the Duolingo English Test. This is an optional supplement that may assist us in evaluating your application. TOEFL or IELTS is still required.
