Academic entry qualification
First-year application:
If you will have completed your country’s pre-university education (equivalent to U.S. 12th Grade) before arriving on-campus for the fall semester, or if any of the following apply to you, you are eligible to apply to NYU as a first-year applicant:
• You are completing an internationally-recognized equivalent, such as the IB Diploma;
• You are applying from countries with school leaving qualifications based on the British educational model, and will have completed the A-level equivalent (neither O-levels nor (I)GCSE results will be sufficient for admission);
• You are currently enrolled in a foundation year program outside of the United States;
• Your highest degree earned by the time you plan to enroll at NYU is either a certificate or diploma.
Transfer application:
Transfer applicants must first meet the high school requirements above. You are then eligible to apply as a transfer student if one of the following applies to you:
• You are currently or have been enrolled as a degree-seeking* student at a college or university in the U.S. that is regionally accredited;
• You are currently or have been enrolled as a degree-seeking student at a college or university outside the U.S. that is nationally recognized by the country's primary accrediting council/agency;
• You are currently or have been enrolled in a non-degree seeking program in the U.S. and will have completed 24 semester credits or more by the time you plan to enroll at NYU.
• For transfer students, the maximum amount of transfer credit normally accepted is 32 points of general education; exceptions to this may be made only at the discretion of the Chair of the Department of Dance. For Advanced Placement, credit is awarded on a course-by course basis, though no credit is granted for dance related courses.
Standardized Tests
100 and above on the TOEFL iBT, 7.5 and above on the IELTS Academic, 70 and above on the PTE Academic, or 191 and above on the Cambridge English Scale.
We accept results from either the old or new SAT, which became available in March 2016.
If you choose to submit three SAT subject tests or AP exam scores to fulfill the standardized testing requirement, we want to see one score from each of the following:
• Literature or humanities
• Math or science

Portfolio
An audition is required for the Department of Dance. The audition consists of a condensed class in ballet technique (ballet barre and adagio) and contemporary combinations, lasting approximately 1-1/2 hours. If the dancer passes the ?rst part of the audition, they will be asked to perform a short (no longer than 3 minutes) solo dance they have learned or choreographed—something they enjoy doing. Music used for solos can be played from an iPod, iPhone (iPhone 7 bring headset adapter) or MP3 player with a CD as a backup; we will provide the system player. Please remove your passcode before the audition.
A personal interview follows the solo performance.
As we need to be able to see applicants' bodies in order to realistically evaluate technical level and physical potential, we ask that applicants wear clothing that does not obscure body lines. Everyone should bring regular ballet shoes; pointe shoes are only necessary if the applicant intends to do a solo en pointe.
Auditions will be held in New York City, Miami, Chicago, San Franciso and Los Angeles. After submitting the NYU Common Application, you will select an audition date and location through the SlideRoom portal in the Common App. Audition slots are limited. We strongly recommend applicants submit their application no later than December 15th if they intend on auditioning in Chicago or Los Angeles.
Be sure to bring the following items to the audition:
Proper clothing and music for the solo (please read above).
A full-length body photograph in dancewear, no speci?c pose required, preferably 8" x 10". Please have your name on the back of all materials.
A detailed résumé listing prior dance experience, including types of training, names of teachers and schools, years studied, and the numbers of lessons per week (attached to the back of the photograph or on a separate sheet).

学术入学资格

作品集要求
舞蹈专业的学生需要试镜。试镜包括能体现芭蕾舞舞者技巧和现代组合的短片，片长1-0.5个小时。如果申请人通过了第一部分的试镜，他们将被要求表演他们已经编排好的一段（不超过3分钟）独舞，或者他们喜欢做的事情。用于独舞的音乐可以从 iPod、iphone (iphone 7 带耳机适配器) 或 MP3 播放器中播放, 作为备份;我们将提供系统播放器。请在试演前删除您的密码。
