Academic entry qualification

International application

Applications for admission to Barnard College are always read with careful consideration of contextual information that might affect student course selection, i.e. the rigor of the curriculum, a student’s individual life circumstances, and, in the case of international students especially, global and cultural perspective. 

First-Year Admission

Request that all official high school and college transcripts be sent to Barnard College along with your high school's profile. Your guidance counselor will also need to submit the School Report. Submit official standardized testing. Submit Guidance Counselor Evaulation. Submit Teacher Evaluation forms. Submit TOEFL or IELTS

Transfer application

Request that an official final high school transcript or official GED results be sent to Barnard College. (Visiting students are not required to provide a final high school transcript). Submit official results of the College Board SAT or the ACT Assessment by the application deadline. SAT or ACT scores are required for all transfer applicants regardless of the number of credits earned, years since high school, or if the applicant has not taken a test previously. The College Board code number for Barnard is 2038.The ACT code number for Barnard is 2718. 

Standardized Tests

The most competitive candidates for admission generally receive a score of 7 or higher on the IELTS or a TOEFL score of 600 or above on the written test, and 100 or above for the Internet-based test.
